I’ll be honest with you.
For years, I struggled to find a Lenten devotional that actually worked for me.
Some were too academic—full of theological language that felt distant from my everyday life. Others were too shallow—nice thoughts, but nothing that challenged me or invited me deeper. And many just didn’t leave room for the messy, real, wrestling parts of faith.
So this year, I did something I never thought I’d do.
I wrote my own.
And I have to tell you—I absolutely love it. So much so that I’m going to use it myself this Lent, starting Ash Wednesday.
What Makes This Lenten Devotional Different
This isn’t a devotional about doing Lent “right.” It’s not a checklist or a performance.
It’s an invitation.
For 47 days—from Ash Wednesday through Easter Sunday—you’ll walk alongside Jesus through the wilderness, toward Jerusalem, to the cross, and finally to the empty tomb. Each day includes Scripture, a reflection, and a journaling prompt that gives you space to sit with what God is stirring in your heart.
The themes build week by week:
• Wilderness & Temptation
• Surrender & Trust
• Sacrifice & Giving
• The Journey Toward Jerusalem
• Darkness & Suffering
• Preparation & Anticipation
• Holy Week (an intensive 7-day journey)
• Easter Sunday celebration
This Lent devotional guide isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up—even when it’s hard. It’s about slowing down long enough to notice what God might be doing in the quiet.
Why I Wrote This
I needed something that honored the weight of Lent without being heavy-handed. Something contemplative but not overly complicated. Something that made space for both the ashes and the alleluia.
And honestly? I couldn’t find it.
So I created it.
If you’ve ever felt the same way—if you’ve picked up Lenten devotionals that just didn’t quite fit—this one might be for you.
