About Me

Hey guys! If we haven’t met yet – my name is Susan. I’m a dreamer and a silly hearted Jesus lover. I frequently attempt to win the love and affection of family, friends, and strangers by feeding them things like boozy meatloaf, freshly baked bread, soft cookies and heavenly scones… Crossing my fingers that I’ve won a few over. I might have been born and raised in North Dakota, but my heart calls the western mountains of Wyoming home. Whether I’m sleeping under the stars by myself in the mountains, hiking with family and friends, or sitting around a crackling fire; I just can’t seem to breathe in enough nature.

Reuben Rolls

Who doesn’t love appetizers? With the Super Bowl approaching, along with St. Patty’s Day around the corner, I thought it was a great time to introduce Reuben rolls. Although, one never really needs an excuse to make Reuben rolls. Or any appetizer for that matter. They are absolutely scrumptious!!! I believe in giving credit where

Crescent Pizza

Crescent pizza is a quick, easy meal that’s perfect for those busy, exhausting weekdays we all have. When I was younger, my mom made crescent pizza and it was always a family favorite. I believe she got the recipe from my lovely Aunt Jude. Thanks Aunt Jude. I didn’t include any step by step pictures

Gingerbread Men

I love our family tradition of making gingerbread men. There’s something magical and nostalgic about our home around Christmas time. The twinkling lights from the tree, the coziness of a fire crackling in our den, arranging my favorite nativity scene, and the wonderful smell of baking gingerbread permeating the house while my kids wait in

Sugar Cookie

Although I don’t really have a sweet tooth, I could easily polish off a few of these sugar cookies in one sitting. For breakfast. They are just that divine. I have memories of rolling out, cutting, frosting, and decorating HUGE batches of sugar cookies at Christmas with my mom and my grandma. The entire table

Cider

Who doesn’t love apple cider on crisp fall days or cold blustery evenings? I love to throw all the ingredients together and let it simmer on my stove top all day. It makes the house smell incredible. This cider recipe is based on my mom’s. For as long as I can remember, she has made

Chipotle Bacon Corn Dip

Chipotle bacon corn dip is by far, the BEST dip I’ve ever had. And I’m a pretty hard core chips and dip girl. I have tried several versions of corn dip, trying to find JUST the right one. After perusing many of the hundreds, if not thousands of recipes online – there’s a reason why

3 Hour Buns

Waking up to the smell of freshly baked buns was the best alarm clock ever. And it was my alarm clock a few times a month when I was a child. My mom would start her bun dough the afternoon before, shape it into buns in the evening (with me right by her side), let

Crockpot Potatoes

Every New Year’s Day, my Bartz family gets together to celebrate food and family. I love them, but let’s be honest…because it involves strudel, I’d go even if they weren’t my family. Now, this isn’t a strudel recipe, but it is mashed potatoes done right. Which really just means…they’re super yummy. Since we moved back

Knoephla Hotdish

When I would come home from college during my freshmen year, I tried to visit my Great Grandma Filler in the nursing home as often as I could. That woman. Describing her as amazing isn’t doing her justice. Sometimes, she would talk about when she was a little girl (she could tell me about the

Knoephla Soup

I wish I could introduce this knoephla soup recipe with a sentimental story about one of my German grandmas (you’ll hear me chat about them quite a bit here…they are my heroes), because I think it deserves that! Sadly, I have no memories of my grandmas making this soup. I know they did, I have
